So far, the USCIS has announced that it received 5,900 H-1B applications for the normal quota and an additional 4,500 for the advanced degree quota. These numbers were released yesterday, April 7, 2011.
In years past, many remember that the H-1B quota was exhausted as early as the first day of applications. Last year, the H-1B cap was not reached until January the following year. I would anticipate that with the economy still rebounding, the H-1B quota will last a significant amount of time. This will also ensure that everyone who can find a job offer this year will have a chance to make an H-1B application. in order to get the animation to 'stick' you have to toggle that button that says "animate" on the top of the screen. The reason they do it that way is this. If you've already set up an animation, but then find that you need to change something in the basic structure of the item, you can turn off that toggle, edit the item and have it not effect the animation that you set up.

it might be a little bit tricky to find this out. Talk to IO about your 485 and ask her about 140 during the conversation. She might tell you the PD on that. Once, I successfully reconformed my PD by trying this way ( I have approval notice with me though).

Hello,
I am on a H1B with company A. I've been offered a job with company B which is currently processing my H1 transfer paperwork. I had accepted the offer letter from company B and had submitted all my papers for H1B transfer.
The starting date in the company B is 20th Nov as per offer letter. Now I had decided to stay back with the company A (by 18th Nov) before joining the company B. Is there any issue by doing so?

Hi,
My 6 yr H1B expires Dec 15,2009. I had applied for labor in 2008 and have received the case number for the labor dated June 26, 2008. My labor is not yet approved and online the status shows "pending". The company has not got any RFE against the labor. I dont know why its taking so much time. My main concern is, Can I apply for h1B extension on the basis of "Pending" Labor approval. What is the time frame to apply for an H1B extension? How long is the extension granted for ? 1 yr or 3 yrs....
Please advise ....

Say if one has two I-140 and wish to port the priority from the older one to the later one. And if the USCIS does not agree with your filing(maybe they will say the filing is not possible or not portable). What will they do? Will they deny the I-485 or will they just reject the application. If so will it cause an issue when the later priority date is reached and during the application of the following I-485.

I've been reading a lot on these forums about guys asking where to send 485 applications to. While my I-140 got approved from Texas center (originally filed at Nebraska center) , my lawyer still sent my 485 application to Nebraska center. I think, he has made a correct decision since, 485 form mentions that all employment based applications should be sent to Nebraska center. Please correct me If I am mistaken.
Secondly, the application fee can be in the form of personal check made payable to USCIS or Department of Homeland security. I've made checks payable to USCIS - does any one know if the check has to say "USCIS" or should it say "United States Citizenship and Immigration Services"? I would think just "USCIS" would suffice.
Any light shed on these two points would be greatly appreciated...

Hi,
I am in weird situation. I left my previous employer because they didn't file for my concurrent filing during July '07 madrush.
They applied for my I-140 on 26th Sept 2007 thinking that I may change my mind and stay with them.
It seems that they didn't revoke my I-140. Since, yesterday, I got email notification from CRIS about I-140 approval.
Now a question for Gurus:
I am not sure but my previous employer may revoke it anytime. Based on the email notification and the online approval snapshot, can I port my priority date to my current application, with new employer, even if previous employer revoked my approved I-140 ?
Personally, I was happy with my previous employer except for the concurrent filing that they didn't apply. Now, I am in dilemma. should I should rejoin my previous employer or not?

I need some clarity on this issue. I know AC21 helps switching jobs within the same field/duties, but here is my line of thought... I'm past 2yrs on my H1 and I plan to do a part-time MBA (~3yrs) after which I'd like to be open on the kind of job I do.
Now, my questions are: (1) Does switching to EAD really pause the H1 clock?
(2) Is that triggered by filling a new I-9 form alone, or by entering the US on AP, or both?
(3) I guess, I should be able to apply for a fresh H1 with a new company and switch back from the EAD to new H1, right?
I know I'll lose the GC priority, especially wife's EAD, but I'm debating if it's worth losing my career aspirations? My info: Nov '06 EB2 PD, approved I-140, July 3 I-485 receipt and my present company will file our EAD/APs as long as it is necessary.

I just came back from India with my H1 visa expired and my wife had a valid H4 visa until May. At the port of entry, Immigration officer told me that since she is on my dependent visa, she had to enter on AP also. so both of us used AP though she had a valid visa

Ajay K Arora from H1B1.com was a good lawyer for me. I was in KY at the time and had the luxury of choosing my own immigration lawyer. I did H1 + renewal, and RIR labor that got recently approved, but I am with a different company now, so can't use labor cert, and I have to put up with the company's law firm whose service is of course, awful.
He is located in NYC. The reason I chose him is someone else recommended him for me.

Hi,
I applied for EAD renewal to Nebraska center on Dec 12th.
So far I didn't received the receipt and also my check didn't get cashed.
Did anybody encounter similar situation. If so please let me know what you have done.
