USCIS should clear the backlogs first, to some extent, because people are stuck here in USA on H1B even after 10 years.. Otherwise they should find a way to pre-register to EAD and GC without all this gimmick approvals of AOS etc.
But this is only in our thoughts, just making memos and making the life of Legal immigrants a mess is the current strategy of the immigratin leadership, this is being done by the anti-immigrant community.

Most leaders are actually volunteers in IV. They have a regular full time job.
What you are saying: "who can take a flight to Washington DC on Monday morning, change the law by noon to issue GC to every EB category, have a lunch at Olive Garden, come back monday evening" :
For this you need to hire full time lobbyist which costs a lot
of money. IV budget is nowhere close to that the Hispanic lobby group:
National council of La Raza whose budget is
$40 million or $1.3 billion including its �affiliates� network.
IV is a tiny organization in front of La Raza. Thats....a BILLION with which they hire full time lobbyist.
I strongly suggest you listen to the audio interview to understand how big the hispanic
lobby is and get some reality check of how things work in US politics.

I agree with you . In fact I commend the IV leadership for at least giving us a platform. If someone believes that by a budget of 50 K to 100K a year IV can do some miracle then I guess they are deluding themselves.
I don't know much about behind the scenes IV leadership but I respect them for taking time off and doing something for the EB community .
Money talks in this country. Maybe IV people had good ideas or bad ideas but without money I don;t think anyone is going to hear our voice OR we need mass involvement - even that is not there . Although 30,000 people are IV members but when you need them except a couple of hundred you don't see anyone.
How can an organiation work which can't even collect 5K a month from its members . We all are willing to spend hundreds ( sometimes thousands ) of dollars on EAD, AP , H1, labor, I-140, I-485, lawyers etc etc and don't even spend 100$ a year ( yes not month - a year ) .
Most of the people come here to check forums or get free advice.
For this reason alone I cannot fault IV leadership and I respect them .

I don't think it's possible, or people will all file to Chicago. There is one thing you can do though, which is to write to Atlanta center and express your concerns. Probably also write to the higher officials to the Department of Labor. I believe the more people write to them, the more chances they will look at it seriously.

The article suggests that people in the namecheck hole were granted GC's which is WRONG. Most are still languishing with no reprive.
When they say 25k or 60k GCs were approved, i am sure they would have stuck to the per country caps and the security clearance.

Political leaders are same in every country and this is to appease the very vocal anti H1b citizens. They could have done 100 different things, which would really help the citizens. When we tried to hire a Hyperion report developer on a short term project, 45 of the 50 resumes were from Indians. Other 5 resumes we chose to interview were ridiculously unrelated. This scenario will leave the company to outsource the complete project, which also eliminates other 5, 6 surrounding non specific tech/non tech jobs. He misleads the congress saying purpose of H1b is to invent the products which is really to keep the sufficient pool of specialty skilled people for the businesses. This bill is certainly short cited.

Just looking at the employment based inventory statistics, if every applicant were charged $2000 for visa recapture, it is close to $400M for uncle sam. All EB backlogs would be eliminated, new immigrants would continue contributing to Social security, pay taxes, buy new homes, invest etc... Cant they see the potential upside to this?

How about each one of us does whatever is suitable with common theme being similar letter/concern etc. If we choose clock/cal etc. shortly we will run out them at sites such as amazon, etc. Anyway only some of us will be able to do it...But flowers, letters, fliers are limitless and everyone can send...
So my suggestion is --draft a common themed letter and send the letter along with whatever anyone chooses to send along (with clock, cal, flier or simply letter. But please make sure the fliers are not offensive)...

We have several bills that are being discussed to provide releif for all of us stuck in the Green Card process. We have very few dedicated volunteers working very hard and knocking the doors of representatives across the country seeking support for our bills. We need to lobby hard to get releif for all of us in this election year and lobbying is not cheap. We need dollars to keep up our lobbying efforts. We need help with raising dollars that are needed to keep working for our cause. We do not have Star Players and/or Star Athletes raising funds to support our cause. We need to do it ourselves. We all need to come together as a dedicated team with a mission to raise the targeted dollar amount. Can we do it?. Can we all step up and raise the dollars we need for our cause?.

I happen to be a freelance writer (not a journalist). In response to this thread, I have penned a 2,700 word commentary on the current challenges titled "The Plight of Promise". In order to beef it up with some compelling statistics, can 5 or 6 people respond to this thread with anonymized details of their specific circumstances and how they are suffering. for some it is money, for others it is about taking care of parents etc.
for me it is all about where I would like to live, grow and bring up my child. to me the answer is very clear. while this country is not perfect, no country on this planet is. if a human makes an objective list based on quantifiable pros and cons, the decision is very easy to make.
as for stuff like "I miss my parents" that is not quantifiable and should never figure in the discussion. what is the guarantee that you can return to your home country and live in the same city as you parents do? what happens if your kids don't want the grandparents to interfere in their lives? what happens if you cannot take constant interference from friends and extended family?
my reasons may come across as cold and calculating. however, it is an inhospitable world we live in and it is up to us to provide the best possible cocoon for our immediate family and that is exactly what I intend to do.

For taxpyers, the amount of money will be "reduced" or " completely phased out" for individuals making adjusted gross income or more than $75K ( or more than $150 if married and filing jointly).

I am in EB2 with a US Master's degree. My priority date is April 2006 and my case is not approved. Many of friends same boat as me are not approved.
So "reddymjm" I don't think all US Master's degree in EB2 are approved.
