aiming london shooting tokyo, thats exactly what this bill is doing. The vast majority of nonsense is created by small "con"sulting companies, i.e shell companies with less than 50 employees. Infact Schummer if he wanted a solution for h1b missue should have gone after these small "con"sulting companies rather than real multi national companies like infosys,tcs, wipro etc. I am not a fan of this bill but if you going to put restrictions on h1b do it the right way. it is these small "con"sulting companies with less than 50 employees that did illegal things like selling approved labor until using approved labor was abolished, it is these small "con"sulting companies which work on 80 20 model which are bringing disrepute to h1b and people working on h1b. by putting this rediculous rule which says only comapnies having more than 50 employess will be targetted by this law schummer inadvertently is encouraging the setup of more "con"sulting companies. The vast majority of green cards issued in the last 5 years (may be as hight as 80% of green cards) have been issued to the "con"sultants" working in these "con"sulting companies. People working in fortune 500 companies abide by all rules like it is the job responsibily which determines eb1, eb2 or eb3 and not your educational qualifications and therefore i have seen phd recepients applying in eb3 whereas the "con"sultants working in these "con"sulting companies who have sometimes b.sc bcom or btech degrees applying in eb2 by faking experience to show 5 years requirement, they work in SAP but they advertise the position as someone needing java or any programming experience. this is outright lying, how can people working in fortune 500 and legitemate companies complete with these "con"sultants and these "con"sulting companies with less than 50 employees for green cards.
For green card reform the biggest culprit is per country limit\quota, the above issue is small compared to the country quota but it still needs to be solved.

There could be lots of folks who missed July 07 fiasco. For the people who were able to file during July 07 that EAD is working as good as green card for now.. wish we could. Here is my case if that makes you feel little better that there are lots of people who missed the boat, I Had approved labor with PD Mar 06 and I-140 and i changed my Job in Mar 07 because of issues with desi company. I never imagined that dates will become current in just three months.. :mad:
Now i am still waiting for my labor.. I recently got three years H1b extension. This extension seems like green card to me :o

I am assuming that will be the end result. It means they will not be counted against any VISA CAP.
If I understood it right, they wanted to remove the 10% per country limit for the Nurses and Physical Therapist since a majority come from 3 countries - India, China and Phillipines

I got my I140 approved in just 3 months (filed in Jul'08 and approved in oct'08) .. My I140 was filed in EB2 at NSC...

Any sample letters to Senators with the 'text' outlined for this current cause?
I'm thinking duly signed letters have more impact.
We have sent letters in the past only to get a standard CANNED answer. It is my opinion that the letters we send do not have any impact, cos as soon as they see "Immigration" as the subject, they (staff) sends the standard letter they have definining the position back.
I do not mean to discourage you, but the need of the hour is to call all the senators. There are 100 of them.
If you were going to do something in addition to the phone calls, Please set up an appointment w/the senator or staff and do a 20 minute Powerpoint presentation. That is more effective.

I am on H1 and AOS and I refinanced my house at 5% . There were no issues and no questions. Just all the usual documents - W2 , paystubs etc etc . It was with a local bank too and not with any high profile institution.
You mean Fancy, big building institution, I think. There are no high-profile banks left anymore. They lost their integrity in screwing people and are not to be trusted.

What does this mean for new LC applicants. My ads went out last friday and I will be filing my LC in june end. I am in my 2nd year. Any suggestions ???
please help ! Employer has been dragging his feet else i would have applied before may. But now with all these should i just change my employer who will file my LC and I-140 with a month ???

i had put up the previous two posts on this page asking about relief for Schedule A professionals in 2008......time has passed by but nothing has changed.....no sight of any relief or any schedule A bill........missed the july 2007 fiasco due to employer insisting on 40 day cool off period........have been in US for 6 years......no sign of EB3 india being even close to Oct 2007 (my PD)........employer has refused to file EB2 point blank.......no other employer ready for EB2........spouse on h4 visa since oct. 2006......have lost all hope and just going through the motions......is there light at the end of tunnel???

hi i have come to the u.s. on a f2 visa and currently my spouse is doing her OPT.i applied for a driving licence in georgia and i was issued a learners permit based on my I94,visa and letter from social security office denying me a ssn.
i went to the same centre(decatur) for a road test and now they say that we cannot give you a licence because your visa says dependent for a student of wisconsin university,so you should go to wisconsin and get your licence.i went to another dmv centre and after verifying my docs. they let me take the road test and i cleared the test and they asked me to go to the counter to pay money , at that time the person in the counter again asked me for passpoert and i94 and he saw that university of wisconsin stuff on my visa and he said he will not issue a licence and i spoke to the supervisor and he says get a letter from INS ,i showed him my spouse opt card and showed him the words in the card which reads"eligible to work in u.s. upto ----").now he says that is your spouse opt card ,what autorisation do you have to stay in GA ?
has any one come across such a problem?is so kindly advice
