for the first time (in 5 years that I have been tracking them) the visa bulletin looks like it was "made in America". The america of old, the one that is so organized that every official form includes an estimated time on how long it takes to fill it up. The one where every street has a clear name marker, every intersection has multiple stop lights, multiple signs. Where the little cats-eyes on the road are color coded[1] Where lines form automagically when a bunch of people converge on anything. Where you can go to any .gov site and pick up whatever statistics you want on anything from agriculture, to factories, to healthcare.
This is a nation built on documentation and organization.
For the first time the visa bulletin does not look like some discarded bingo card or four monkeys getting excited on a typewriter. For the first time the numbers make sense, they explain why they are what they are. They even put our prediction threads out of business by coming out with their own set of predictions for the rest of the year.
USCIS has had data like this for eons (how many cases pending in which category and from which country). It took the usual american obsession with data and organizing data to come out with all this.
Kudos to them.
Things remain bleak, but just to see something so neatly organized and put out was heartening to me.
P.S: and no, this is not them just doing their job. Their job is to put out the dates every month (like they have been doing for atleast over a decade). To clearly spell out how many cases are pending (like their recent report), and now to predict how these dates will move, is IMO going beyond the minimum requirements of the job, and is much appreciated.
[1]: blue meaning a firehydrant, yellow as a separator of lanes in different directions, white in the same direction, red is dont enter. found the meaning of the blue one recently, and was impressed. atleast in CA this is what they are.

Illegal immigration (of course) is really hot in the VA area. They have had rally's and other events that were reported on front page of Washington Post.

Did you ever apply for EAD / AP?
My I-140 was never denied. In fact the date 09/04/2007 that NSC mentions about the denial is the date that I got approval notice. I have the approval copy from USCIS. I am not sure what the adjudicating officer is looking on his terminal.

Just contributed another $ 100 for the Sept 18th rally. Already sponsored a ticket for a person for the rally. I cannot attend the rally because I have a son who will be joining pre-school from Sept 17. So I need to be in stay in Dallas for the first week or so from Sept 17th

I have to agree with SC3. PD porting from one EB category to another is a provision that falls within USCIS guidelines.
Yes, if an overwhelming number of applicants from a (more) retrogressed category port to a non (or less) retrogressed category, it 'hurts' some people.
I am EB2-I 2006 by the way, and this will hurt me as well. But I can't bash someone for utilizing to their advantage an option that is provided by the system.
And who am I kidding, if I was in their place, I would be doing the same thing.

I will be leaving for DC in a couple of hours. Need to pack, get gas tank full, and decide what clothes to iron and ton of other mundane things. IV is you me and everybody else. We saw since morning how people are trying to scuttle the idea by giving various and weird reasonings. What is important is writing them. And telling them the gravity and urgency of the situations. words like bonded should be bolded as the truth is 'Yes' in this free American Society we have lived a 'bonded' life...

I got my EB2 Labor certified today, and now my lawyer is preparing EB2 140 as an interfile into my existing EB3 485.
Is this recommended or should we do regular premium 140 and request date porting once its approved?
If we do decide to do interfile now during 140 application. Is it advisable to do premium processing?

Senator Specter seems to emphasize that he would like to get done with amendments etc. and to make sure that he meets Bill Frist's deadline of March 27th so that it can be debated
Senator Brownback is bringing an amendment to extend J1 visa which apparently expires this year
Will keep on updating as and when I hear things
No visa cap for nurses/physical therapist esp for India, China and Phillipines
Apparently the quorum is not present at the committee to vote on the amendments, but senator Specter is stating whether he will support the amendment or not.

Please let me know how this so called multinational executives are getting compensated. Whats the stock/option given to these executives. The available information shows only three days of extended stay and one week of car which they need to share with other executives. Fortunately the extended stay suites come with attached rest room. Otherwise they need to share with other multinational executives. There would be long queue in front of the shared room and eventual back log...

I am least bothered about how/what they are paying to their executives. when they are exploiting the system, its you and me are the one getting affacted. Otherwise these would have trickled down as spillover.
